Scottish Bible Society and Scripture Union

The mission of the Scottish Bible Society is to provide God's Word to all people,

in a language they can understand,
in a format they can use,
and at a price they can afford.

The Society distributes Bibles, New Testaments and other Scripture-based materials, in a range of media, in Scotland and throughout the world.

Working with the churches, Scripture Union aims to make God's news known to children, young people and families and to encourage people of all ages to meet God daily through the Bible and prayer.

The Fabric Committee

Steve

This Committee is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the exterior and interior fabric and furnishings of the Church, Hall and Manse buildings. Based on regular inspections a programme of proposed maintenance and improvement is submitted annually to the Congregational Board for budgetary approval.

Specialist building surveys and inspections to identify problems such as dry-rot, as well as annual compliance checks for fire and safety reasons are also arranged, together with the routine servicing of the organ and heating systems for example.

In addition the Committee advises the Board or Kirk Session on any Planning or proposed Development Notices relating to the Church properties and is responsible for the preparation and submission of Applications for proposals that require Local Authority or Presbytery Approval.

Catering Team

Gladys McFadyen

It is the duty of the catering convenor to ensure that all church hall users implement the latest Health & Hygiene rules. Handbooks are provided and advice is available when required. It is the responsibility of the catering team to provide catering for special events held within the church’s social calendar including ceilidhs and the Alpha courses. The convenor is joined by a very able and valuable committee with an extended group of helpers who are called upon when required. Additional names for the group are always welcome.

Letting of Church Premises
Amelia Boyd

The church halls are regularly used by West Church groups as well as a number of external organisations. Requests for use of the hall should be made directly to the contact person noted. There are set charges for the use of the halls. These charges can be provided on request.
