"Life and Work" is the
magazine of the Church of
Scotland. It is published each month of the year and plays an
important role in the work of the Church.
The October 09 issue
includes the
following articles:
-
The Moderator, the Rt.
Rev. William Hewitt reflects on his recent trip to South Africa.
-
The work of the
Bethany Care Shelter.
-
Alan Taylor considers
the personal message from a new book celebrating the
Reformation.
-
The Very Rev. Dr James
Simpson looks at the importance of loving self, neighbour and
God.
Recently, in a letter to
distributors of Life and Work, a number of former Moderators drew
attention to the fact that the publication of religious
magazines by "Christianity Today International", in the States, has
suspended publication of its religious magazines, because of the
current financial climate.
As the Moderators point
out, happenings in the church are not prominent in the papers
nowadays, exceptions being "The Herald" and "The Press & Journal"
with columns from "Life and Work" columnist, Ron Ferguson. We are
therefore encouraged to purchase the magazine, and to encourage
other people as well, to ensure that our religious publications here
do not suffer the fate of the magazines in the States .
