Scripture Union and Scottish Bible Society

The mission of the Scottish Bible Society is to provide God's Word to all people,

in a language they can understand,
in a format they can use,
and at a price they can afford.

The Society distributes Bibles, New Testaments and other Scripture-based materials, in a range of media, in Scotland and throughout the world.

Working with the churches, Scripture Union aims to make God's news known to children, young people and families and to encourage people of all ages to meet God daily through the Bible and prayer.

Kirk Session

The Kirk Session is responsible for looking after the spiritual welfare of the church and is made up of 37 elders. Each year it appoints one of its number to represent it at presbytery.

Session meets five times each year. This is on the first Tuesday in September, November, March and May along with the third Tuesday in January. Additional meetings are held for the purposes of training, communion (4 times per year), induction of new members and on other occasions as appropriate.

The main part of the Session Clerk’s job is to help the minister lead the Kirk Session in the conduct of business associated with the spiritual life of the Church.
