Scripture Union and Scottish Bible Society

The mission of the Scottish Bible Society is to provide God's Word to all people,

in a language they can understand,
in a format they can use,
and at a price they can afford.

The Society distributes Bibles, New Testaments and other Scripture-based materials, in a range of media, in Scotland and throughout the world.

Working with the churches, Scripture Union aims to make God's news known to children, young people and families and to encourage people of all ages to meet God daily through the Bible and prayer.

The Friendship Hour

The Friendship Hour is a series of meetings intended for senior citizens. They run from October through to May each year on alternate Thursdays at 2:00p.m. in Haddington West Church Hall.

The meetings usually cover a range of interesting subjects which takes the form of a talk, a slide show or a film on various subjects from herbal medicine, the work of the Red Cross, Archaeology, holiday slides or they can consist of a general knowledge quiz to a (Robert) "Burns" afternoon.

These afternoons are always worthwhile and are very much appreciated as they are times for all who attend to meet simply as friends.

Everyone is welcome, as you do not have to belong to Haddington West Church, or indeed, any other church
