Access to Haddington West Church for the Less Able Our congregation is an inclusive organisation where we actively encourage all people to share in our worship regardless of their abilities or inabilities. Our church is built on a sloping site which has resulted in the original design of our main entrance including a flight of stairs up to the main sanctuary. This difficulty is overcome by the provision of a level garden entrance to the east. Access from Court Street to this entrance is by way of a black steel gate to the east of the main entrance and thereafter up a sloped path to the level garden entrance door. The gate is always open each Sunday morning with a member of the door duty team waiting in the church to give you a welcome (and a hymn book!!) on your arrival. Since this entrance was created many of our more senior members have taken to using it as it is a very pleasant, less stressful, method of gaining access to the sanctuary. If you require use of this entrance for the evening service, the gate and garden entrance can be opened on request at the main entrance where the door duty team will be pleased to make this happen. We also have suitable sanitary provision in our recently completed hall extension. The sound system within the church is used for all Sunday Services and most funerals and this is linked to a loop system. Hearing aid users are reminded to switch their equipment to the 'T' position to take advantage of this facility.
